Tamil Matrimony Free Registration — Step by Step

Registration on Naam Vanniyar is free and takes roughly ten minutes if you have your details ready. There is no payment step anywhere in the flow — not at registration, not at approval, and not when you later message a match. This guide walks through each stage so you can gather what you need first and finish in one sitting.

Before you start, have these ready

• A mobile number and an email address you can receive a verification code on.
• Two to five recent photographs — one clear face photograph at minimum. Group photographs and heavily filtered pictures get far fewer responses.
• Your date of birth, height, and marital status.
• Education details and current occupation, with employer and city if you are working.
• Family details: father's and mother's occupation and education, number of siblings and whether they are married.
• Your horoscope, if your family will use it — specifically rasi, natchathiram and lagnam.
• Optionally, an identity document (Aadhaar, driving licence, passport or voter ID) if you want the verified badge.

Step 1 — Create the community account

Naam Vanniyar is a community platform first, and matrimony is one module inside it, so you begin with a community account rather than a matrimony profile. Provide your name, mobile number, email, a password, and your district. You will also select your state, which then filters the district list, and in Tamil Nadu you can additionally record your assembly constituency.

Verify your email through the link that arrives, and verify your mobile number through the OTP if you want the verified badge. Verification is what allows a moderator to trust the profile later, so it is worth doing now rather than after.

Step 2 — Fill in the matrimony profile

Open the matrimony section from your dashboard and choose to create a profile. The form is grouped into sections, and none of it is behind a payment.

• Basics — gender, date of birth, height, marital status, mother tongue, physical status.
• Education and career — highest qualification, field of study, occupation, employer, work location and income band. Income is shown as a band, never an exact figure.
• Community — religion, caste, Vanniyar sub-caste and sub-community, and gothram. The sub-caste list covers the Vanniyar sub-sects, and families often search by it.
• Lifestyle — diet, blood group, hobbies and interests, and disability status if applicable.
• Family — father's and mother's occupation and education, siblings, family type and family values.
• Horoscope — rasi, natchathiram and lagnam, in a separate section you can leave blank and complete later.
• Partner preferences — the age range, height range, districts, education levels, occupations and sub-castes you would consider. These drive your match suggestions, so answering them honestly matters more than answering them broadly.
• Privacy — whether to hide your phone number, hide your email, hide your photographs, or hide the whole profile from non-members.

Step 3 — Photographs and privacy

At least one photograph is required when you first create the profile, and you can add up to twenty. Each photograph gets its own privacy setting, and this is the control most families care about most:

• Public — visible to anyone who can view your profile.
• Protected — visible only after you accept an interest from that member, or approve their photo request. This is the setting most families choose.
• Hidden — visible to nobody but you, until you change it.

Step 4 — Submit and wait for review

Once you submit, the profile enters a moderation queue. Nothing appears in search automatically — a moderator checks it first, which is what keeps the free platform usable. If something needs correcting the profile is returned to you, and editing a returned profile puts it back into the queue automatically, so you do not need to start again.

Once approved, your profile appears in search, in other members' match lists, and on the public matrimony page. You can then browse, shortlist, send interests and message anyone who accepts — all at no cost.

After approval — what to do first

• Set your partner preferences carefully if you skipped them; they drive the match list you will actually use.
• Look at the compatibility score on a few profiles to calibrate what a realistic match looks like for you.
• Send interests rather than waiting to receive them. Profiles that send interests get several times more conversations than profiles that only wait.
• Switch the interface to Tamil if elders in the family will be reviewing profiles with you — everything including rasi and natchathiram values is translated.
